Hi my Techie friends, as you all are aware Microsoft is planning to launch Windows 12 in 2024 and it will be a big update that will change the PC and Laptop industry. So, one of the main reasons behind it may be to overcome Apple’s M1 Chip. Why I am saying it you will get to know in the below paragraphs.
In 2020 Apple launched the M1 Chip and replaced it with Intel and AMD processors in all Apple products. This was a big revolution; all companies that were manufacturing PC processors lost half of their market share because of this M1 chip. Now in the last 3 years, all companies including Microsoft have been trying to come back with something new which will be a challenge for Apple.
What is the major difference between M1 Chip and other processors?
So before going to the release and reason of Windows 12, let’s understand the difference between the M1 chip and Intel or AMD processors. Intel and AMD processors are high-efficiency processors and are big in size.
They require more power and a cooling fan to work efficiently and this is the main reason that they cannot be used in mobile phones. The processors of mobile phones are of low efficiency but they also require less space and power.
But Apple’s M1 chip came up with a solution that mixed both, this M1 chip needs as much power as a mobile processor and also doesn’t require any cooling system. These chips are highly efficient as compared to Intel and AMD processors and improve the battery life of the device too.
This was the main reason Apple’s Laptop, Macbook, and other devices with the M1 chip captured the market with hard hold.
What is new in Windows 12?
So after launching the M1 chip in 2020, Microsoft launched Windows 11 in 2021 and it was not loved at all. The reason was, that it was launched with processor support of x86 processors which are generic Intel and AMD processors. Now to overcome this situation Microsoft is planning to launch Windows 12 which will be coming with the support of ARM-type processors. These are the processors that are being used in our mobile phones. This will help Microsoft to fight with Apple’s M1 chip.
Apart from this one of the biggest updates Microsoft is coming with is AI capable OS. Yes, Windows 12 will be coming with an inbuilt AI application. This application will be able to complete all tasks without access of the internet.
Which processor will be used for Windows 12?
The success of Windows 12 is dependent only on the upcoming new generation processors with AI capabilities. It is understood that Microsoft will be using a processor made by Qualcomm. Qualcomm acquired a company named Nuvia, and it is known that this company was started by ex-Apple employees. With the help of Nuvia employees, Qualcomm developed a next-gen processor named ‘Snapdragon X Elite’. This processor is based on Orion CPU and it will be doing the same work for Microsoft Windows 12 which Apple M1 chip did for Macbook.
Windows 12 will be the next big thing in the PC industry.
If we look around at what is going on in the backyard, we will find that Microsoft is working with various processor companies and other tech companies continuously. There are some rumors that these processors are tested with a totally new OS and it is quite possible that it will be Windows 12. If it is true certainly there will be a big change in the PC industry. PCs and Laptops will be working just like mobiles and it is a good signal.
